Breakfast is often considered to be the most important meal of the day

The reason for this is that it provides your body with the necessary fuel to start your day. When you sleep, your body goes without food for several hours, and breakfast is the first opportunity to refuel your body after this time. Eating breakfast helps to kickstart your metabolism, which helps you burn calories throughout the day. Additionally, breakfast can help improve cognitive function, memory, and concentration, making it easier to focus on tasks throughout the day. Studies suggest that people who eat breakfast regularly also tend to have better overall health, including a lower risk of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Overall, breakfast provides many essential nutrients that are necessary for good health and helps you start your day off on the right foot.

For breakfast, I think it’s best to keep it simple!

Here are some options we choose from daily:

  • Eggs are an amazing food. Try eating eggs in all different ways and find your favorite. From egg muffins, to scrambled to poached to baked or anything your heart desires.
  • Some type of sausage or bacon or kielbasa is a great side.
  • Fruit! Especially fruit that is in season and ripe is an awesome choice for a carbohydrate.
  • Then if I have some extra time one morning, I make sourdough pancakes or waffles and I make A LOT so we can eat them throughout the week.

What you want to remember is to make a plate for breakfast full of protein, fats and carbs. A complete, balanced, nourishing meal.

Another thing to note is don’t be afraid of carbohydrates. We aren’t afraid of carbs in this family! Avoiding carbs is not a healthy way to live. We have become obsessed with getting rid of carbs as if they are the enemy. But truth is, the right carbs are necessary for a high metabolic rate & good energy.

Our bodies need glucose. Glucose is the brains main source of energy and preferred source for almost every cell in our bodies. So why do so many people choose to get rid of carbs?

Simple carbs are best! This includes fruits, root vegetables like potatoes & carrots, good quality dairy, & honey.

Remember, at the end of the day, most carbs turn into glucose = fuel for the body.

You wouldn’t drive a car on an empty tank, would you? Same idea here ✨
