Developing healthy habits is essential for maintaining a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. Here are five nourishing daily habits that you can incorporate into your routine:
Eat breakfast within 30 minutes of waking
Your body has been fasting the whole time while sleeping. When you wake up, it is important to eat within thirty minutes of waking in order to not add stress to your body. Instead you want to break the fast with easy to digest, nutrient dense food. Make sure to get in enough protein along with carbs and fats, a fully balanced meal.
Connect with nature
Go for a walk, soak in the sunshine, and breathe in the fresh air. Practice grounding if the weather allows it. I personally am always barefoot in the warmer months but as it gets colder, I wear my barefoot shoes. I do the best I can with this but I go on a daily walk with the kids while walking the dog and feeding our chickens.
Drink an adrenal cocktail
An adrenal cocktail is a drink that is made up of specific vitamins and minerals that are believed to support adrenal gland function. Many people experience adrenal fatigue which means that when the body is under stress, the adrenal glands, which produce hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, become overworked and eventually exhausted. This leads to a range of symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, and mood disorders. So in between a meal, put together an adrenal cocktail! It typically contains orange juice, cream of tartar, and sea salt. I usually do a mix of freshly squeezed orange juice, coconut water and salt!
Slow down
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel like we’re constantly rushing from one task to the next. However, taking time to slow down can be incredibly beneficial for our mental and physical health. Here are a few tips on how to slow down in life:
Practice mindfulness:
Mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the current moment. By focusing on the present, we can slow down our racing thoughts and reduce stress. You can practice mindfulness through activities like meditation, yoga, or simply taking a few deep breaths.
Set boundaries:
It’s important to set boundaries with work, social obligations, and technology. Make time for yourself and prioritize activities that bring you joy and relaxation. This can help you feel more in control of your schedule and reduce the feeling of being constantly “on.”
Simplify your life:
Take a look at your daily routine and identify areas where you can simplify. This could mean reducing your commitments, decluttering your living space, or simplifying your meals. By streamlining your life, you can reduce stress and create more time for the things that matter most.
Remember, slowing down doesn’t mean being lazy or unproductive. It’s about finding balance and taking time to recharge so you can be more present and engaged in your daily life.
Practice self-care
Taking care of yourself both mentally and physically is important for overall well-being. This can include practicing mindfulness, taking time for hobbies and interests, and spending time with loved ones. I love to read, drink a hot cup of coffee in silence, do a face mask, take a long, hot shower or bake sourdough things!
